November 6, 1971 concert with Miles Davis to be rebroadcast by WDR

WDR (Westdeutscher Rundfunk) will rebroadcast the November 6, 1971 concert at the Philharmonie in Berlin on Monday, July 4, 2011, at 1:15 AM.

Das WDR Jazzline Archiv zeigt die legendären Konzerte der Berliner Jazztage aus den Jahren 1964 – 1975, diesmal das Konzert der Miles Davis Group in der Berliner Philharmonie vom 6. November 1971, bei dem Keith Jarrett an den Keyboards saß. Joachim Ernst Berendt bezeichnete Davis’ Auftritt in seiner Ansage als den bedeutendsten des ganzen Festivals. Zwischen 1970 und 1973 veränderten sich Sound und Look der Miles Davis Group radikal: Der Free Jazz wich langsam einem harten, teilweise fast schon Punkrock vorweg nehmenden Funk-Sound.

  • Keith Jarrett (electric piano, organ)
  • Michael Henderson (bass)
  • Ndugu Leon Chancler (drums)
  • Charles Don Alias (percussions)
  • James Mtume Forman (percussions)

Trio concerts in Naples and Barcelona in July 2011

According to ECM Records, Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, and Jack DeJohnette will play in Naples and Barcelona in July 2011:

  • July 18, 2011 (9 PM): Teatro di San Carlo, Naples, Italy
    Tickets: teatrosancarlo.it
  • July 23, 2011 (8 PM?): Teatre Grec, Barcelona, Spain (Festival Grec de Barcelona)
    Tickets: grec.bcn.cat

Tickets for the concert in Naples are apparently already available. Tickets for the concert in Barcelona should be available soon.

Trio concert in London on July 27, 2011

Keith Jarrett, Gary Peacock, and Jack DeJohnette will play at the Royal Festival Hall in London on July 27, 2011. Here’s the announcement by Serious:

Keith Jarrett returns for his first London concert since 2009 with the group that sets the standard for the jazz piano trio of today. A rare and not-to-be-missed occasion. Tickets go on sale on Thursday 28 April. Save the date.
