“Jasmine” is now available in France, but it won’t be released in other countries before a few days (Germany, UK, etc.) or weeks (US, Japan, etc.). So, for those interested, you can now listen to samples from all tracks on Amazon US.

An exclusive interview conducted by Alex Dutilh will be broadcast, as well as concerts recorded by France Musique (Paris, June 9, 1972, with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian, among others).
“Cet entretien inédit sert de fil conducteur à une nuit conçue comme une quête de soi, où des concerts enregistrés par France Musique (notamment le trio de 1972 à la Maison de Radio France avec Charlie Haden et Paul Moian) alterneront avec ses plus belles pages discographiques.”
Thanks to KeithJarrett.it for the information!
Promotional video for “Jasmine”
Universal Music France posted a promotional video for the Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden duo album “Jasmine” (to be released in May 2010). It consists of footage of Keith Jarrett playing with Charlie Haden and Paul Motian in 1972, as well as Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden playing at Jarrett’s home a few years ago (2007 or 2008?). I guess most (if not all) of it comes from the “Charlie Haden” documentary by Reto Caduff.
Update (May 15, 2010). The video was created by Kinetic Media NYC. You can also watch it on their website.

- Intro – I’m Gonna Laugh You Right Out Of My Life

The liner notes (by Keith Jarrett) are also available from Amazon. Here’s an excerpt:
“Music is an amazing thing. It doesn’t exist as a stationary object. It moves in real time and can be uplifting both to the player and the listener. The melting, trans-figurative moment, that feeling of everything being there, just for an instant, that surrender that overcomes us as players (if we’re good enough) and leads us on to the next pregnant second, patient in the knowledge that there always is, waiting in the wings, the next chance to feel this fullness and celebrate it (as it is only in the nature of art to produce it this way); to this we dedicate our lives. But it is not for us alone; it is also made for you, the listener, to feel these same feelings along with us, to participate and to also be uplifted by it. (…)”
“Jasmine” will be released in May 2010 (on May 3 in France and on May 25 in the US, for example).
Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden duo album “Jasmine” to be released in May 2010
Thanks to Jonas for this exciting news! ECM will release a Keith Jarrett and Charlie Haden duo album called “Jasmine” in May 2010 (ECM 2165). The album is already listed on Amazon Germany with a release date of May 7, 2010. This remains to be confirmed, but the album was apparently recorded at Keith Jarrett’s home studio in New Jersey in March 2007.
Update (March 11, 2010). From Steve Lake (ECM Records, originally posted on JazzCorner.com): “Early in 2007, Jarrett was asked to contribute to a Haden documentary (“Rambling Boy”) and they played briefly together, for the first time since the 1976 break-up of the American Quartet . A few months later, Jarrett invited Haden to his home studio and they recorded in duo over a four day period. “Jasmine” comprises the material they liked best from these sessions. Emphasis is on standards and love songs, but the overall feel and atmosphere is perhaps closer to Jarrett’s solo “Melody At Night…” than anything else in his discography. Intimate, then, and deeply melodic.”
Update (March 23, 2010). More information about “Jasmine” from Jazzwise Magazine: “The eight tracks are mostly love songs from the standards book, though one notable surprise comes in the form of ‘One Day I’ll Fly Away’, as made famous by Randy Crawford.”
