“Hamburg ’72” will be released on November 21 in Germany, November 24 in France, the UK and the US, and December 3 in Japan. Samples are available from Amazon and JPC, among others.
The tracklist is as follows:
Which means that only the second set will be included on the album, unfortunately.
Thanks to Matthias, Johann Heinrich, Håvard, and Larry for the links and information.
The February 2, 1975 solo concert at the Glocke in Bremen will be broadcast by Radio Bremen on Sunday, November 23, 2014, at 20:05. This is a two-part concert, with one encore (“Treasure Island”). More information can be found on the Radio Bremen website. Don’t miss it if you can!
Thanks to Maurizio for the information.
A new biography of Keith Jarrett in German, written by Wolfgang Sandner and simply entitled “Keith Jarrett: Eine Biographie”, will be published on November 28, 2014. An ebook version will also be available.
Wolfgang Sandner has also published a biography of Miles Davis in 2010, which wasn’t translated into any other language, so it’s very likely that the new biography will only be available in German.
Thanks to Arnulf and Matthias for the information.
Update (December 1, 2014). The publishing date is now March 6, 2015.
According to an ad in the December issue of DownBeat (digital edition), ECM Records will soon release a new album, “Hamburg 72”, with Keith Jarrett, Charlie Haden, and Paul Motian. This is probably a recording of the June 14, 1972 concert recorded at NDR Studio 10 in Hamburg, broadcast at multiple occasions by Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). The concert last about 90 minutes and parts of the concert were previously released on an LP called “NDR Jazz Workshop ’72”, so this could be a very interesting release.
Manfred Eicher and Jan Erik Kongshaug mention that the recording will be remixed from the original tapes.
Thanks to Peter for the information!
Update (November 4, 2014). ECM Records now features photos of Keith, Charlie, and Paul (probably from the Hamburg 1972 concert) on its home page. Thanks to Christoph for pointing it out to me.
