Keith Jarrett to be inducted as 2014 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Masters

According to the National Endowment for the Arts website:

Recipients will be honored at an awards ceremony & concert on January 13, 2014, at Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City, which will be webcast live at arts.gov and jalc.org/live

From Keith Jarrett’s profile:

“Although only music excites me, and awards and ceremonies do not, I feel honored to receive this NEA Jazz Masters Award, due to the many players on the list since 1982 that have been influential in my life. I’m honored to be in their company, and am reminded that the true nature of jazz has always relied on the individual players making their mark on the music of the future. Jazz is not dead as long as someone is playing with true inspiration.”

40th anniversary of the Bremen concert

On July 12, 1973, Keith Jarrett played a solo concert at the Sendesaal in Bremen, Germany. Part of that concert was released on “Solo Concerts: Bremen/Lausanne”.

Forty years later, on July 12, 2013, a “virtual concert” (that is, without Keith Jarrett) will take place at the same venue. A complete recording of the 1973 concert will be played, “including the unpublished portion of the first set” (“inklusive des unveröffentlichten Teils des ersten Sets”).

More information about this event (tickets, etc.) are available on sendesaal-bremen.de.

Trio concert at the Auditorium de Bordeaux canceled

An official word from Keith Jarrett’s manager about the concert in Bordeaux:

“The concert in Bordeaux will finally not be happening.

The administration of the new concert hall in Bordeaux (which just opened in January) informed the promoter today that they need to close the new hall for the entire summer to finish work on the hall.

The official advertising for the concert had not begun yet and the tickets had not gone sale.

So the concert at Vittoriale in Gardone Riviera on July 21 will be the last concert on the summer tour.”
